Julia Shalhoup went to law school later in life, at the age of 37. Prior to law school, she was an English teacher who spent years seeing marriages break up around her. She decided to become an attorney so that she could educate people about family law and provide them with the advocacy and legal skills they need.
Julia Shalhoup is a 1993 graduate of the West Virginia College of Law in Morgantown, West Virginia. Ms. Shalhoup was admitted to the West Virginia State Bar, also in 1993. She received her Master of Arts from West Virginia College in 1975, where she also received her Bachelor of Science in 1974. Additionally, Ms. Shalhoup is an alumna of the Phi Delta Phi sorority.
